arliament monsoon session LIVE UPDATES: The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill, The Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts (Amendment) Bill are likely to be tabled in the Lok Sabha today. he Rajya Sabha Tuesday witnessed uproar and sloganeering over the final draft Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC), a day after it was released. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, who has maintained that Assam NRC issue had a historical background as it was rooted in the Assam Accord, adjourned the Upper House till 11 am Wednesday as the ruckus continued. The Opposition leaders gathered in the Well as they protested, not allowing BJP chief Amit Shah to complete his statement on the matter. On Monday, the Rajya Sabha witnessed multiple adjournments as Opposition parties created an uproar over the draft of Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC). The names of around 40 lakh people were missing from the ‘complete draft’ of NRC. The TMC, Congress, CPI(M) and SP criticised the Centre over the publication of the list, saying it puts “human rights and democratic rights” of people at stake. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha passed a Bill that allows death penalty for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years. The Bill replaces the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance promulgated on April 21.

More than 1,600 children separated from their parents at the border by the Trump administration are expected to be reunited by Thursday's court-ordered deadline, but now a battle is brewing over what should happen to them next. The ACLU says that government is preparing to quickly deport hundreds of families immediately after their reunification. In court briefs filed Wednesday, ACLU lawyers renewed arguments asking a federal judge to issue a stay blocking the government from deporting families for at least seven days.
